Biography of L Maurer-Donovan
About Me, my family & friends:
2004 Whitehall-Coplay High
School, Class of 1969 Reunion

I'm the one in the pink sweater.
The others are my friends Jody,
Kaye & Debbie (Sam).

I have to work on a more
current photo.  This one is 2
years old and I am now lighter
by 37 pounds.  Yahoo !!!!!!!!!

It's not only the little things you
celebrate but the BIG
things.......actually, less of me . .
Hmmmmmmmm... is that a big
thing or a little thing.  Here I sit
laughing like crazy !
It's a crazy world out there and I have been constantly evolving.  Born and
raised in Coplay, Pennsylvania, I graduated from Whitehall Coplay High
School in 1969 as a Business Major.

Because of the times, I didn't go to college but went right into the
workforce.   For the next 10 years, I worked, married, had one child, had
a home burn down, built and new home and settled down into our new
home on 15 acres with barnyards of animals.   Do I love animals?  Yes, I
love animals.  However, never again will I go the pig, cow, horse, sheep,
goat, chicken routine.    Bah humbug !

Then in 1980, we started completing our family.   Three kids in 2 year
increments.  Busy, busy.   In that time, I found my love of crafting.  I made
dresses for my girls, hand crocheted ornaments that I sold in a local
craft shop and most of my own clothes.

Life went and life goes and I went into second gear and sold the farm,
animals and went back to work.  Because of the 10 yr span, my skills as
a computer operator were outdated.

At age 42, I started college.   Absolutely loved college........

Lehigh Carbon Community College:
AAS Degree in Accounting
AAS Degree in Business Management

Penn State Lehigh Valley Campus:
BSB Degree in Business with an Individualized Option in Accounting

Okay, back to the creative side.   None of these satisfied my creative side
of me.  A company certainly doesn't appreciate a "creative" accountant.
LOL !

When I started back looking for a creative outlet, I started sewing.  My
husband bought me a sewing machine that also did embroidery.
Beautiful work but no one would buy it.  At least not for what it cost me.
It's cheaper and easier to go to a chain and buy an import for $7.99 than
to buy a hand designed pillow.  Oh well, live and learn.

During the 70's, I worked with clay for awhile.  So, when I came back to
my "creative" side, I decided to try something new.   Precious Metal Clay
(PMC) fulfills that "clay" need.  It's fun but expensive.   As something less
expensive, I found FIMO Clay.   Just needs a toaster oven to bake.   It's
fun and the kid's (grandkids) love it.

However, for a need to earn some money, I turned to many other types of
jewelry and found that I really enjoy bead work.    That's where I am now.

I can string beads but LOVE the creative part of using a needle and
thread to come up with designs.   I'm just starting but I think I've found my
niche.

Additionally, I also work as an Independent Longaberger Consultant.  I
just got back from the Bee and I am excited about all our new programs.
We have some great programs coming up designed to benefit both the
consultant and, more important, our hostesses.

It's a great time to host a show or to think about becoming a
Longaberger Consultant.

Welcome to the web-site of Linda Maurer.  I
have been making jewelry for approximately one
year following a lifetime of crafting, sewing and
ceramics.  I have found that jewelry fits much
better into my current lifestyle.

When I was younger, I made much of my own
clothing and enjoyed making dresses for my
daughters.

I also assisted in our family serigraph business.
So, I guess you could say that I've always been
involved in the arts in some way or other.

I started working with beads making jewelry and
it seems like I've found something that I enjoy.
It's creative and fun.

I especially enjoy the beaded pieces that
require sewing.   I guess that it takes me back to
my roots.
